MOSCOW: President Hu Jintao used fruitful to describe summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRIC countries and his state visit to Russia.

Speaking to the press before leaving Moscow Thursday morning, Hu spoke of the consensus among leaders from the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) during their first meeting since the term 'BRIC' was coined eight years ago.

Hu said the four nations promised to continue measures to stimulate their economies, strive to lead the world in achieving growth and work to emerge strongly from the recession.

The BRIC economies will also increase their collaboration over reforms to international financial institutions. And they will take special care to ensure developing countries are not overlooked when the international community deals with problems arising from food safety, security of energy and other natural resources, as well as health risks, Hu said.

The SCO summit also made "important achievements", Hu said, stressing that the member nations - China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan - added more substance to the SCO system of security cooperation.

The leaders also agreed to expand construction of basic infrastructure in transportation and energy that link the member states.

"This will promote economic growth and mitigate the effects of the global financial crisis," Hu said.

Responding to a question about the prospect for Sino-Russian relations, Hu said the future for the two countries' strategic partnership of cooperation "will be very good".

He and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev both believed enhancing the partnership was important for both countries, he said.
