This sentence appears when Mike is discuss the acting for a play at school with the leadying laday;
the context is like this:
Mike, use what you're feeling.
Uh, you mean like what I'm feeling right now?
Yea, go with the moment. Let's see where were we.
My comments:
That great American TV series was aptly titled Growing Pains, pointing to pains (not just physically, of course) people suffer during adolescence as part of their natural growing process.
For the first time, perhaps, Mike begins to think too much before taking action, you know, analyzing the pros and cons of each step he takes or does not take, like adults always do.
Children are children. They live in the moment. They laugh when they have fun (and, for that matter, cry when they feel hurt), never giving it a care to whether or not it is politically correct to do so.
That’s why the lady encourages Mike to “go with the moment”. In other words, do not think too much. Just do what you feel like doing, as if you were a baby.
Frankly speaking, all adults in society at large could use that advice a wee bit more.
